A Sampling of the Lich War Series: A Review

Cassandra of Cr'Mere by K. D. Nielson is actually the second book in a wonderful set of tales called The Lich War Series. However, this book also stands on it's own as a solid piece of literature,
regardless of being the second book, and that is impressive. The dialogue is smooth and rich and allows a new reader to become quickly familiar with the characters and who they each are. Readers coming back into this series will recognize the area around them with ease.

From the descriptions of a character's bare feet touching the ground to descriptions of corridors and other, more spacious yet still highly detailed spaces, the reader can instantly feel a part of this story. This book is well thought out. Because of this, the stage is set for a beautifully written tale. The prose itself is eloquent while remaining easy to digest for all readers.

The second book of The Lich War Series, Cassandra of Cr'Mere by K. D. Nielson is a gorgeously vivid fantasy.

Note for author: The tenses (past and present) often get muddled, and
some minor grammatical errors and spelling errors are a bit
distracting.

The Line in the Sand is the third book in the Lich War Series by K.D. Nielson. Like the other two, while being book three, this reads in a way that it stands on it's own with power and grace. Yet another piece in this on going epic fantasy tale, new and old readers of fantasy, adventure and romance will become enthralled by the scenery described and the characters therein. This book is geared toward adult readers, though some mature teens will also enjoy this book if their guardians allow it to be read along with the rest of the Lich War Series.

The Line in the Sand, like the two before it, is a rather dark and violent tale. This is expected given the book's background and underlying plot of a great war. The battles and mysteries surround the idea and want for the Swords of Power. They are legendary within the tale and so everyone, good and evil seek them. They have the power to turn back time and undo what has been done. This, of course, could mean bringing people back from the dead.

Just as the other books in the series so skillfully accomplish, this third book also carries the plot effortlessly through a beautifully detailed and tenderly expressed terrain of fantasy. The characters are deep and well developed, making them easy to believe. This allows the reader to have an emotional bond to these characters and to really care what is happening around them. Some key figures carry through from the previous books to this one, yet are still even further explored through this harrowing tale. A lover of fantasy novels or war stories will want to pick up the entire Lich War Series by K.D. Nielson, including this third book, The Line in the Sand.
